In this topic pupils will firstly be introduced to History and key introductory themes, such as the use of evidence and time. After this the first topic is the Roman Empire – the aims of this are to understand a previous Civilisation, why the Romans are important to us and how they have helped form the society we live in today. There will then be a short bridging unit on the Saxons and the Vikings. The second main topic is about Medieval England, starting with the Battle of Hastings and assessing the life of people during Medieval times.
