Geography is going places

What do we mean?

Well obviously Geography is all about places. You will learn what places are like, how they affect people who live there and how people affect them. We will also find out how people in different places are linked together and depend on each other. We look at places from a small scale right up to the whole globe.

But what else?

Does it mean we're going to visit places? Well, yes it does; sometimes, at least. When we can, we want to go out and do some fieldwork. It's important to find out things for yourself and that includes going out and having a look, or taking your own measurements.

And?

It's an expression, isn't it? It means things are going to change. This year, you will see a lot of changes coming in compared with what we did last year. This website has changed a lot and, as the year goes on, you should be seeing a lot of new stuff being added to it. We want it to be interesting, helpful and useful. So tell us what you like, or what you think would be good to put on it.

Most of the courses are changing a lot, too. The world is always changing and we've all got to learn how to keep up with it. It won't surprise anyone that your teachers think that Geography is a fascinating subject. We love looking at what goes on in different places, and finding out what the big issues are around our planet. By the end of the year, we hope you agree with us. We hope you find Geography important, interesting and, above all, enjoyable.
